Susanne Binder, MD

Susanne Binder is a graduate of the Medical University of Vienna. She is professor and chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, Rudolf Foundation Clinic, Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Vienna and chair of The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Retinology and Biomicroscopic Lasersurgery in Vienna.

She is a world renowned retinal specialist who has published 201 original articles and 38 surveys and book articles and is also the editor of 2 books and 3 booklets. Her main interest is in age-related macular degeneration and surgical retina.

She is currently a member in the following ophthalmologic societies: American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Retina Society, Club Jules Gonin, Macula Society, Association of Retinal Specialists, Honorary Member of the Instituto Barraquer, German Ophthalmologic Society and the Austrian Ophthalmologic Society. She is co-chair and participant in the Austrian American Foundation teaching courses and training.

She is currently a member of the following: Medical Advisory Board for the Minister of Health in Austria, Medical Advisory Board for the Mayor of Vienna, Scientific Secretary of the Austrian Ophthalmic Society, program committee of the European Society of Ophthalmology, program committee of the DOC (German Ophthalmic Surgeons), ICO (International Council of Ophthalmology) – board of trustees.
